This is the UFC 177 live blog for Tony Ferguson vs. Danny Castillo, a lightweight bout at Saturday night’s UFC event at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento.
Ferguson, who has won four of his past five fights, will face Castillo, who has won three of his past five fights, on the main card.

Round 1: Ferguson starts out stalking. Castillo is in on a double, but is easily stuffed. Hard inside leg kick from Ferguson and he nearly gets behind Castillo before the two separate in as scramble. Hard body kick now from Ferguson. Ferguson is chasing on strikes, but landing a lot and blocking most of Castillo’s attempts. Ferguson stuffs a single leg from Castillo. Ferguson locks up a d’arce choke and drops to his back. So far Castillo is hanging on, but it’s locked in. Castillo escapes and is in full guard. Hard elbow over the top from Castillo and a decent punch, too.

Round 2: Ferguson is back to getting after it, walking Castillo down and throwing punches. Ferguson stuffs a double and trip attempt from Castillo. Two hard inside leg kicks land for Ferguson. Castillo landing a few counter shots, but is still backing up. Back to the inside leg kicks for the TUF winner. Ferguson rolls for a kneebar in transition, but can’t get it and now Castillo is on top in side control. Ferguson uses the fence to move to mount, but Castillo reverses it again and is in Ferguson’s full guard. Ferguson is very busy underneath with elbows, ear slaps and more while Castillo does very little.

Round 3: Ferguson charges with punches and stuffs a double. Hard inside leg kick from Ferguson works and out of nowhere, Ferguson attempts a weird diving leg lock attempt that doesn’t work. Ferguson then goes for a kimura which doesn’t quite work either as Castillo is able to resist and plant Castillo on top. After a series of another scrambles, Castillo is working from Ferguson’s full guard, but it is mostly Ferguson who is throwing strikes or being active. Castillo slides into half guard and then full mount. Ferguson escapes. Castillo ends it with a head and arm triangle attempt.
