Georges St-Pierre, who is back training at Tristar Gym in Montreal, said that Lorenzo Fertitta and Dana White did not try and convince him to return to the Octagon in their meeting on Oct. 14.

St-Pierre told Ariel Helwani, who reported the news on Wednesday’s UFC Tonight, the lunch meeting at the high-end restaurant Toque in downtown Montreal went well.

“Great, a lot of fun,” he said. “We laugh a lot.”

St-Pierre (25-2), who vacated the UFC welterweight title shortly after a controversial decision win over Johny Hendricks on November 16, 2013, is back after reconstructive knee surgery from a torn ACL earlier this year. He’s made no commitments regarding fighting again, making it clear he has never stated he was retiring, nor stated that he will come back.

St-Pierre was the company’s biggest pay-per-view drawing card at the time he announced he was taking a break from the sport. The knee injury, suffered a few months later, delayed even the consideration of a return.

The 33-year-old St-Pierre was not superman in the gym from day one.

“Humiliating, but better than before, when I came back for Condit,” St-Pierre described his first few days back.

St-Pierre suffered a torn ACL in early 2012 while preparing for a fight with Nick Diaz. He returned on November 17, 2012, to beat Condit via decision.
