As expected, Conor McGregor isn’t the only Irish fighter scheduled to fight in Boston next year.
Patrick Holohan will look to get back on track against Shane Howell, the UFC announced Wednesday.
Holohan (10-1), nicknamed “The Hooligan,” suffered the first loss of his career last month when he dropped a unanimous decision to Chris Kelades in Halifax, N.S. Prior to that loss, Holohan defeated Josh Sampo via first-round rear-naked choke in his UFC debut in Dublin this summer.
“I’m so happy to be a part of the UFC card in Boston,” he said in a statement provided by the promotion. “We are going to recreate the same atmosphere we had in Dublin; it’ll be Dublin in Boston.”
“As I always say to the fans, I’m one of them and I know with the Boston crowd it will be the same, like home away from home. I know I’m the job to start that party over in Boston.”
Howell (13-8) lost his UFC debut to Ray Borg in June. That loss snapped a six-fight winning streak for the native of Ada, OK.
UFC Fight Night: McGregor vs. Siver is set for Jan. 18 at the TD Garden in Boston.
