‘King Mo’ Lawal wants next crack at Tito Ortiz: ‘I’ll Django your ass’

SAN DIEGO – If it’s up to Tito Ortiz, his next fight will be that one he’s long wanted against Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

But “King Mo” Lawal is doing his best to agitate his way into a fight with Ortiz, who defeated Stephan Bonnar on Saturday night in the main event of Bellator 131.

At the post-fight press conference at Valley View Casino Center, Lawal, who TKO’d Joe Vedepo earlier in the main card, made his case.

“Now if you want some, you get some,” Lawal said. “I’m just saying. You fought Bonnar and Bonnar has been gone for two years. That’s fine. I’ll Django your ass. Straight up, Django. I will bust your ass, straight up. I’m serious.”

Ortiz, who had earlier indicated he’d be fine with fighting Lawal, brushed off Lawal’s belligerence..

“Everyone wants to fight me,” Ortiz said. “Get in line.”

Lawal remained unimpressed.

“You ain’t going to fight me, I know that,” Lawal said. “You’re going to be, ‘my neck, my back, my knee.'”

Earlier, Ortiz had been asked about a potential match with Jackson, a bout which was originally scheduled to headline a pay-per-view card in Nov. 2013, before Ortiz had to pull out with a neck injury.

“Of course I want that,” Ortiz said. “We were supposed to fight a long time ago. I broke my neck in training, I think it would be a huge fight for Spike, for Bellator, and everyone wants to see it.”

A source with knowledge of the company’s plans indicated to MMAFighting that Bellator plans on building their first big Saturday show of 2015, likely in May, around a Jackson fight.
