Hendricks defeated Lawler via unanimous decision (48-47 x3) at UFC 171 to win the vacant UFC welterweight title. The rematch will be Hendricks’ first trip back to the Octagon since winning the championship, while Lawler has won twice since then to get back into contention. He defeated Matt Brown via unanimous decision at UFC on FOX 12 and followed that up with a knock out of Jake Ellenberger at UFC 173.
