Quite a weekend in mixed martial arts, wasn’t it? Top prospects stood out at RFA 21 and Invicta 10, but the real action took place at UFC 181.
Robbie Lawler finally fulfilled the promise of his career by claiming the welterweight title on Saturday night. I scored the bout for Johny Hendricks, but am entirely sympathetic to the idea it could also be Lawler’s fight. I don’t think this is a judging scandal…with one exception.
Anthony Pettis looked to be a phenom in almost easily dispatching Gilbert Melendez to claim the UFC lightweight title. He was the best fighter on the card.
And, of course, there was the signing of Phil ‘CM Punk‘ Brooks, something as bizarre as it is…
