UFC welterweight and former Strikeforce welterweight champion Tarec Saffiedine is out of his UFC Fight Night 60 bout with Matt Brown with a groin injury. MMA Junkie was theĀ first to report about the fighter’s removal. MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani confirmed the news.
Saffiedine vs. Brown was set to be UFC Fight Night 60’s main event. There is no word on a potential replacement for Brown.
Saffiedine, 28, was entering the bout with Brown 1-1 in his Octagon experience. After matriculating to the UFC from Strikeforce in 2014, he began his UFC career with a unanimous decision win in January of that year over Hyun Gyu Lim. However, the Team Quest product fell short against Rory MacDonald in October where he was stopped with strikes in the third round.
UFC Fight Night 60 is set to take place at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Colorado on February 14th. The main card will air on Fox Sports 1.
