UFC welterweight Kelvin Gastelum has missed weight for his UFC 183 bout opposite Tyron Woodley. On Friday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ winner weighed in at 180 pounds, 9 pounds over the non-title welterweight limit. Bleacher Report’s Jeremy Botter was the first to report the news.
This marks the second time Gastelum has failed to make weight for a UFC bout. Gastelum was over the limit in his UFC Fight Night: Swanson vs. Stephens bout opposite Nico Musoke. Gastelum initially missed weight before his Rick Story bout at UFC 171, but made the limit upon a second attempt.
UFC flyweight John Lineker also failed to make weight, coming in at 130 pounds, 4 pounds over the non-title flyweight limit. He did not make a second attempt to weigh in. This marks the fourth time Lineker has failed to make weight having previously missed the mark at UFC on FOX 3, UFC 163 and UFC Fight Night 30.
Update: The Gastelum vs. Woodley fight is on after Gastelum was fined 30 percent. Lineker was also fined 30 percent for missing weight and his fight against McCall is on, according to UFC’s Dave Sholler.
