Raquel Pennington highlighted a list of seven fighters to be handed potential six-month medical suspensions for injuries sustained during Saturday night’s UFC 184 event, according to information released by the California State Athletic Commission.
Pennington suffered a hard-fought split decision loss to UFC newcomer Holly Holm in the co-headlining bout of UFC 184’s pay-per-view. She’ll now be forced to undergo x-rays on both of her hands and receive doctor’s clearance for potential fractures, or be forced to sit out for 180 days.
Along with Pennington, six undercard fighters received similar 180-day sentences for damage incurred during their respective performances.
Those fighters are as follows: Roan Carneiro (right elbow), Roman Salazar (left eye), Tim Means (left elbow), Dhiego Lima (left foot), Ruan Potts (head trauma), and Valmir Lazaro (right cheek).
UFC 184 took place Feb. 28 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif. UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey defended her title with a spectacular 14-second submission over Cat Zingano in the night’s main event.
