Dennis Siver will look to put Conor McGregor in his rearview mirror in his home country.
The German lightweight meets Tatsuya Kawajiri at UFC Fight Night: Gustafsson vs. Teixeira on June 20 in Berlin, the UFC announced Friday. Asia MMA was the first outlet to break the news Thursday.
Siver (22-10, 1 NC) fell by TKO against McGregor back in January. Before that, though, he had just one loss in his previous five fights. Siver, 36, has compiled an extremely respectable 11-6 record with one no contest in eight years with the UFC.
Kawajiri (33-8-2), a former PRIDE and DREAM favorite, has not fought since a unanimous decision loss to Clay Guida in April 2014. The Japanese fighter had won five straight previously to earn a roster spot in the UFC. In his debut, Kawajiri, 36, finished Sean Soriano by submission in January 2014. The veteran has notable career wins over the likes of Josh Thomson, Yves Edwards and Michihiro Omigawa.
UFC Fight Night 69 is headlined by a light heavyweight contender matchup between Alexander Gustafsson and Glover Teixeira. It will take place at the O2 World Arena in Berlin and is the UFC’s first trip back to Germany since last May. The event will mark just the fourth time the organization has gone to Germany.
