“The Baddest Man on the Planet” will try to get back in the win column next month.
Joe Warren takes on L.C. Davis in the main event of Bellator 143 on Sept. 25 in Hidalgo, Texas, the promotion announced officially Tuesday. Combat Press reported the fight last week. In the co-main event, Joey Beltran will take on Kendall Grove.
Warren (12-4) lost his Bellator bantamweight title to Marcos Galvao in March. Before that, he had won five straight. The 38-year-old Colorado native is also a former Bellator featherweight champion and two-time Bellator tournament winner.
Davis (23-6) has won three in a row, the latest a split decision over Hideo Tokoro in March. That bout is currently a contender for Fight of the Year. Davis, 34, is a WEC veteran and Missouri native who has won seven of his last eight fights overall.
Beltran (16-11, 1 NC), a UFC veteran, is coming off an exciting win over Brian Rogers in April in his middleweight debut. Grove (21-15, 1 NC) has won three of his last five fights, but just fell to Brandon Halsey via TKO in May in a fight that would have earned him the middleweight title with a victory.
Bellator 143 takes place one week after Bellator MMA: Dynamite 1 on Sept. 19 in San Jose. Bellator has not been to Texas since Bellator 62 on March 23, 2012, a card headlined by Patricky Freire and Lloyd Woodward in Laredo.
