Back at UFC 171, Hector Lombard called out Patrick Cote.
Over the weekend, Cote said he’d be willing to return the favor.
But Lombard has apparently moved on to other things.
Lombard has responded to Cote’s callout following the latter’s victory over Josh Burkman on Saturday night in Saskatoon, Canada. According to Ariel Helwani, though, Lombard now has another welterweight opponent in mind: Rory MacDonald.
Lombard and MacDonald were slated to fight one another at UFC 186, but the bout was cancelled in February. Then in March, it was announced Lombard had failed his UFC 182 postfight drug test after his bout with Burkman. Lombard is eligible to return next Jan. 3, provided he passes a Nevada Athletic Commission drug test in order to be reinstated.
MacDonald, meanwhile, is still healing up from his epic encounter with Robbie Lawler in July. On a recent edition of The MMA Hour, MacDonald indicated he’s interested in potentially meeting Lombard upon his return.
