Ronda Rousey will now face Holly Holm at UFC 193.
The UFC women’s bantamweight champion’s title defense will headline the event, according to UFC president Dana White on ESPN’s SportsCenter on Friday night.
“Ronda Rousey was huge for us in Brazil,” White said on ESPN. “She was well received there and it was just a phenomenal event. It did very well on Pay-Per-View here in the United States, and she’s obviously a huge superstar for us. Australia’s an important market for us, so we’re gonna bring her out there in our first real big stadium show, and we know she’ll break the record out there.”
Rousey was originally scheduled to face Holm at UFC 195 on Jan. 2 in Las Vegas.
According to multiple reports, and confirmed by the UFC, UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler suffered a thumb injury and his fight against Carlos Condit is now postponed. It was the previous main event in Melbourne.
