Showtime Boxing: Deontay Wilder’s fight will stream live on Youtube
Do you want to watch Deontay Wilder’s fight on Saturday, January 16th but don’t have either a Showtime subscription or cable television? Well there’s good news for you.
WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) is looking to keep his undefeated record intact against Poland’s Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs), who is aiming to be the first Polish heavyweight champion in boxing history . The main event airs live on Showtime tomorrow night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, along with the IBF heavyweight title co-feature between Charles Martin (22-0-1, 20 KOs) and Vyacheslav Glazkov (21-0-1, 13 KOs).
This is a Showtime free preview weekend, but if you’re a cord-cutter and want a legal way to watch it online, you’re in luck! Showtime is actually streaming tomorrow’s card live on their Youtube page, as their press release noted earlier in the week:

The Jan. 16 live SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING doubleheader will mark the first heavyweight world championship fights in Brooklyn since James Jeffries knocked out James Corbett in the 23rd round on May 11, 1900, on Coney Island. Additionally, for the first time in boxing history, both heavyweight world championship bouts will be available on the SHOWTIME Sports® YouTube page. The offering serves to give boxing fans everywhere access to the SHOWTIME Sports flagship series featuring Wilder, the first American heavyweight champion in nearly a decade and one of today’s brightest stars.
It’s a pretty cool thing that Showtime is doing, and I wonder if we’ll ever see HBO copy this for their own free preview weekends. Both networks have recently taken to broadcasting preliminary PPV bouts on Youtube, but this is otherwise something we haven’t seen before.
