Did you know Ronda Rousey is hosting NBC’s Saturday Night Live this weekend? Check out these promo shots alongside cast member Beck Bennett.
Ronda Rousey won’t be fighting any time soon, but the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion will be on live TV this weekend. She’ll be the first MMA fighter to host “Saturday Night Live”, NBC’s long-running sketch comedy program. It will be Ronda’s first extended period on live TV since her knockout loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193.
As is the standard for all SNL hosts, Rousey shot the promotional clips for the show, which also features musical guest Selena Gomez. Beck Bennett, whom I’ve recognized solely as that guy from the AT&T commercials where he talks with kids, tried to make sweet talk during several shoots. When he dressed up in low-rent pro wrestling garb and attempted to put Rousey in a headlock, he was tossed to the floor, which excited him and humored Ronda.
You can watch the video of her promos at the top of the page and decide for yourself whether Ronda’s comedic chops have persuaded you to spend 90 minutes of your Saturday night (and into Sunday) watching Rousey perform live sketches. The card show airs live at 11:35 PM ET/PT on January 23rd on NBC, and I’ve set the over/under on mean mugs during the broadcast at 3.
