Rafael dos Anjos believes he has defeated more talented fighters than Conor McGregor and wants to be more recognized once he beats “The Notorious”.

One day after a riveting UFC 197 press conference alongside his next opponent, UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor, Rafael dos Anjos is already back his hometown of Rio de Janeiro, where he spoke to Combate about his upcoming superfight.

In dos Anjos’ eyes, the clash will finally be the one where fans will recognize his talent and value him as a fighter. He even believes it’s going to be the best fight of 2016.

“I think this is the fight that will make fans like me. Especially with a good win, like a knockout. I’ve fought better athletes than McGregor. I knocked out former champion Benson Henderson. I defeated Donald Cerrone twice. I beat both Anthony Pettis and Nate Diaz. These are all better, stronger fighters than McGregor. Because of his popularity and his big win over Jose Aldo, who was undefeated for ten years, I believe this will be the fight of the year. It’s champion against champion. I’ll defeat him whenever I want. In the first round or later on.”

Rafael dos Anjos is scheduled to fight Conor McGregor in the UFC 197 main event on March 5th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
