TMZ was looking to get a Donald Trump endorsement out of Holly Holm, instead they just left the UFC women’s bantamweight champion a little surprised.

Presidential politics continues to encroach on the MMA sphere, and with the 2016 election season really shifting into gear, it’s only going to get worse… or better if that’s your thing. MMA is a sport that promotes loudness. Vocal fighters willing to give their opinions on anything and everything tend to rule the day when it comes to popularity and promotability as “draws” in a business where selling yourself is often an athlete’s greatest asset.

And so, as the woman who defeated Ronda Rousey, and potentially one of the UFC’s next big stars, Holly Holm is finding herself in a place to get all sorts of questions thrown at her. Such is the TMZ way, when they asked the new Women’s Bantamweight champion if she’d vote for Donald Trump.

Her answer? A resounding, “I don’t know.”

“He seems to get stuff done, you know? I don’t know who I’m gonna vote for yet, so I’m thinking.”

Mostly Holm just seemed caught totally off guard by the question. But something tells me she’ll hear it again, and probably be more prepared the second time around.
