UFC heavyweight lightning rod and podcaster, Brendan Schaub says that he has been axed from appearing on the UFC Now and UFC Tonight shows.
Outspoken UFC heavyweight, Brendan Schaub has made no attempt to hide his feelings about the UFC’s sponsor deal with Reebok, and has basically stepped away from fighting as a result of that deal. Now, he’s revealed that he’s been banned from appearing on not one, but two UFC-centric shows, UFC Tonight and UFC Now. In a recent episode of his red-hot podcast with comedian, Bryan Callen, The Fighter and the Kid, he gives the particulars on the situation.

Brendan Schaub Explains Why He Was Banned From… by smackhisface1
*I went ahead and took the liberty of transcribing the clip for those that can’t listen*
Schaub: Well, speaking of gifts, uh, if you enjoy B. Schaub on UFC Now and some of the UFC Tonight shows
Callen: Right, I do, I do enjoy it. I love when you’re…well, I know you’re their ratings spike
Scaub: Yeah, I have the highest ratings on UFC Now, um
Callen: When are you gonna be on next?
Schaub: Oh, that’s a good question. Well, I guess it’s come to my attention, Big Brown-and these aren’t my words-is “too controversial and doesn’t fall in line” like the rest.
Callen: Are you saying that you rub against the grain?
Schaub: I guess I’m unsupportive of certain issues that link up with the UFC, so you won’t see Big Brown on UFC Now anymore.
Callen: What?!
Schaub: Uh-uh
Callen: You’ve been banned from UFC Now?
Schaub: I have been.
Callen: Now, is that because you’re too much of a maverick and you speak it like it is?
Schaub: Yes
Callen: So you weren’t willing to toe the party line?
Schaub: I can’t do it. I can’t do it, man. I can’t get in line
Callen: Did you really get banned?
Schaub: Yeah
Callen: So, you will not be invited back to UFC Now?
Schaub: Nope, and you know, some of the fan questions we get are like, ‘Man, don’t you think you’re gonna burn a bridge somehow?’ Listen, I’m just not that guy. In a line of horses, I’m the zebra that’s like, ‘I’m not doing that.’
Callen: Thank God
Schaub: Thank God, ‘cause I’m gonna be here, and don’t get it twisted, there is no show on UFC Fightpass, bigger than The Fighter and the Kid, so you can take your show, and kick rocks.
Callen: Easy! Easy! [Laughs} Don’t get too upset now!
Schaub: I’m trying not to get emotional.
Callen: [Laughs] When Brendan’s feelings get hurt, he lashes out.
Schaub: For sure it hurts my feelings, but it’s going to help this show. The reason why I wouldn’t always want to talk about fights in depth too much on Fighter and the Kid, is because I had to do it for other shows all the time.
Callen: Yes
Schaub: So I would come here and want to be more entertaining…blah, blah, blah, mess around with you. Well now, I don’t have to do that…
Callen: We might have to do a Fight Companion here and there, maybe when Rogan is calling it
Schaub: Yeah, we’ll see and we’ll figure it out, but, uh, yeah. So, I got that news, and uhhhhh…
Callen: Do you know where it came from?
Schaub: I have no idea. I just found out from my manager and, uh, I don’t know. I make more money off one re- [coughs loudly] than I do on UFC Now, but it’s whatever [laughs]
Callen: Easy! Easy!
Schaub: Easy! Easy! Sold out comedy nationwide tour [coughs loudy]. Thing is, UFC Now, I am so bummed out, because I had so much fun with the NINETY viewers.
Callen: Hey! Hey! Easy!
Schaub: It’s weird, because I have my own show that’s way bigger.
Callen: All I’m asking you, sir, is to just take it easy.
Schaub: I know, but…
Callen: Maybe it’s a temporary suspension. Maybe we can make a call.
Schaub: Maybe it is. Let me check. Fuck you, Reebok.
Callen: Hey! Hey! [Both laugh boisterously]
Schaub: But wait, I’m part of-it’s actually the biggest UFC show related in the world-it’s called Fight Companion. I don’t know if you’ve heard of it. It’s bigger than any show the UFC has ever done.
Callen: Hey! Hey! Easy! Easy!
Schaub: I don’t know what to do, man. It’s weird. It’s me and my boys talking about the fights.
Callen: Let’s put this into perspective. UFC Now, the good news, I’m totally available. [Loud laughing from Schaub]
Schaub: What if they did??
Callen: Hey, it’s Bryan Callen here…and I just become a fixture
Schaub: [Laughing} You’re the staple that fills me in
Callen: And you come and hang out with me
Schaub: The Fighter and the Kid…they just want our fan base to keep watching it
Callen: Brendan’s in the parking lot waiting for me, he is my ride…sorry, can’t make it.
Schaub: Yeah, what can you do?
Callen: I think it’s a good sign. You pay a price…
Schaub: I’ve moved on
Callen: You pay a price, and I get that you’re upset
Schaub: I’m really not
Callen: Yeah, I know. I’m just kidding, but you’re gonna pay a price for speaking your mind, and I think, in the end, it always works in your favor. What are you gonna do? Lie? Have fun doing that, so you can be on UFC Now.
Schaub: What do you want me to do, man? I’m sorry. I’m supposed to pretend like this Reebok deal is good for everyone? I can’t do it.
