Tweet of the Day: Sergio Pettis gives Sage Northcutt some advice

UFC flyweight Sergio Pettis offered up some helpful advice to Sage Northcutt after his first loss.

Sergio Pettis knows a thing or two about expectation. As the little brother of former WEC and UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, Sergio was unfairly expected to be a mirror of Showtime when he made his UFC debut at the age of 20. He won that fight, but was submitted a couple of months later by Alex Caceres, which led to him taking a lot of abuse.

So it’s pretty obviously why he would be able to relate to Sage Northcutt’s situation.

Northcutt, still just 19 years old in his third UFC fight, was submitted by Bryan Barberena in the opening main card bout at UFC on Fox 18. The reaction to that loss has been fairly harsh, with fighters and fans openly celebrating his defeat.

Not Pettis though. Now 22 with six UFC fights under his belt, he tweeted some encouragement to Northcutt:

That’s a very classy gesture from Sergio, and I’m sure Northcutt will appreciate it.
