In the main event, striking sensation Stephen Thompson looks for a career-best win against former Welterweight champion Johny Hendricks, while Roy Nelson takes on former All-American Jared Rosholt at Heavyweight.
The rest of the card features plenty of solid match ups, the vast majority of which you can catch for free on on the aforementioned FOX Sports 1. The switch from PPV to free television has left us with some extra spending money; therefore, here’s how to use it.

Josh Burkman (-170) vs. K.J. Noons (+130) Damian Grabowski (-120) vs. Derrick Lewis (-120) Ray Borg (-300) vs. Justin Scoggins (+220) Noad Lahat (-310) vs. Diego Rivas (+230) Mickey Gall (-505) vs. Mike Jackson (+335) Artem Lobov (-125) vs. Alex White (-115)
Thoughts: Lobov opened at +110 … how beautiful would it have been if he had stayed there? Alas, the betting public is not as stupid as one would like, and so we must content ourselves with a slight favorite.
In his three UFC fights, White has shown neither the technical acumen nor overpowering grappling he would need to defuse Lobov. There is an excellent chance that this turns into a stand up brawl, which greatly favors “The Russian Hammer.”
He’s just too big a hitter for White, so bet accordingly.
If you want to beef up the odds a bit, Burkman is worth a look. For all of his recent struggles, it’s hard to picture him losing here. Noons is a far cry from the likes of Hector Lombard, Dong-Hyun Kim and Patrick Cote, an over-the-hill Lightweight with severely lacking grappling. By all accounts, Burkman should wreck him — he’d need a foul-up of truly unprecedented proportions to lose.
That’s certainly possible, of course, but I’m confident he can pull it off.
As an aside, I believe Borg will defeat Scoggins, but that line is insane. This is fairly close to a 50:50 fight, maybe 60:40 in favor of Borg. If you’re taking Scoggins, jump on that before it’s too late.

Johny Hendricks (-220) vs. Stephen Thompson (+180) Roy Nelson (-160) vs. Jared Rosholt (+140) Ovince St. Preux (-410) vs. Rafael Cavalcante (+330) Joseph Benavidez (-430) vs. Zach Makovsky (+345) Misha Cirkunov (-855) vs. Alex Nicholson (+485) Sean Spencer (-160) vs. Mike Pyle (+120)
Thoughts: Pyle should not be an underdog against Spencer. Many of the recent troubles for “Quicksand” have come about as a result of his declining durability, but there’s a difference between getting hit by the likes of Matt Brown and Jordan Mein and getting hit by Spencer, who hasn’t knocked anyone out in six years. Pyle possesses a murderous clinch game, underrated wrestling and lethal grappling.
Without solid power or stifling wrestling, Spencer’s in danger in all facets of the game. Bank on the Xtreme Couture-trained representative to have his hand raised in “Sin City.”
The rest of the odds seem rather reasonable. I’ve been debating whether to recommend Nelson based on Rosholt’s lack of cardio and punch resistance, but I know Rosholt can scrape out some ugly fights. Probably best to leave it be.
