Yoel Romero posts positive message on social media as rumors fly about USADA B-sample

It’s still a rumor right now but the MMA community has been abuzz today over word that Yoel Romero’s B-sample results for his alleged drug violation has come back clean.

And just minutes ago the Cuban posted a message to social media indicating he’s received news that could bolster those rumors:

@malkikawa @beanshop @firstroundmgmt it’s a good day and great news for the #ufc. Get ready for the new champ

As speculation began to grow about the rumored B-sample today, Twitter users reached out to Tim Kennedy for a reaction. It went as you might have expected.

@malkikawa don’t plan on it.

— Tim Kennedy (@TimKennedyMMA) February 5, 2016Yoel Romero, 38, could possibly be in hot water with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) after an out-of-competition drug test returned abnormal.

The #2 ranked middleweight was originally informed of a potential doping violation about three weeks ago and UFC.com issued a statement:

“The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) informed Yoel Romero of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collection. USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Romero. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.”

“Soldier of God” was last seen winning a controversial split decision over Ronaldo Souza at UFC 194: “Aldo vs. McGregor” in Dec. 2015 in what was widely regarded as a No. 1 Middleweight contender eliminator match.

The Cuban fighter has has won all eight of his matches inside the Octagon since his promotional debut in April 2013.

Should Romero be cleared of any violations it will be interesting to find out what happened to his promised title shot, which was recently given away to Chris Weidman.

MMAmania.com will post updates to this story as soon as they become available or when these “rumors” become facts.
