Check out the new promo video for the Saturday, March 5th UFC 196 pay-per-view, now headlined by a welterweight bout between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor.
Conor McGregor won’t be attempting to become the first simultaneous two-division champion in UFC history, but he will still be in the UFC 196 main event. With his lightweight title fight vs. Rafael dos Anjos scrapped due to RDA’s broken foot (or bruised foot, if you’re siding with McGregor), the UFC booked the featherweight champion for a welterweight fight against Nate Diaz, and it didn’t take long for the drama to build. Yesterday’s press conference was filled with quotables and boisterous behavior from both McGregor and Diaz supporters.
Today the UFC released its new promotional video for UFC 196 (titled: “It’s On”), which you can view at the top of the page. The 30-second clip, unfortunately due to the change of main event, is primarily comprised of Diaz, McGregor, plus co-headliners Miesha Tate and Holly Holm all punching or kneeing or kicking people in the face. There’s loud music but Joe Rogan’s “OHHHHHHHHHHHH” sounds are nowhere to be found.
We’re only 9 days away (March 5th) from what remains a big fight night for the UFC, even sans champ vs. champ superfight.
