Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate have been mortal enemies since the two first fought for a world title in March 2012. Their disdain for each other then boiled over into a testy coaching escapade on the set of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 18 in 2013.
Fast forward two years later, and it’s Tate, who’s been stopped twice via submission by “Rowdy,” who challenges for the UFC women’s 135-pound strap against Holly Holm, who folded Rousey back in Nov. 2015.
Rousey is taking her time training, modeling and filming movies, before making her way back into the Octagon for a second showdown with “The Preacher’s Daughter.”
Can you guess who’s side she’s on when Holm and Tate get together in the UFC 196 co-main event next month?
“I need her to win. I want to be the one to beat her. I don’t want anyone else to take the honor of beating her besides myself,” Rousey told TMZ Sports cameras (via FOX Sports).
The former Olympic bronze medalist in Judo seems intent on making that statement come true and she will do so with embattled coach Edmond Tarverdyan. It was Tarverdyan who came under fire for his lackluster coaching efforts during the momentous UFC 193 main event between Rousey and Holm.
While Rousey is enjoying her time away from the Octagon, “Cupcake” will be aiming to hand Holm her first career loss inside MGM Grand on March 5, 2016. Holm and her coaching staff having been nothing but complimentary towards the ex-Strikeforce bantamweight champion.
In fact, the two budding B-list actresses are somewhat friends, having filmed the critically-acclaimed (not so much) “Fight Valley” together in 2015.
Las Vegas isn’t giving Tate much of a chance. Do you?
