In the latest Three Amigos Podcast episode, Stephie Haynes and Severe MMA’s Sean Sheehan take a look at all the intricacies around the frenzy for UFC 196.

Conor McGregor has become a household name. No really, he has. When my husband’s 72-year-old father knows (and avidly follows) who McGregor is, then I know he has officially become a bona fide superstar. He’s also recently become aware of another excellent fighter named Nate Diaz, thanks to the announcement that Nate would be Conor’s next opponent. So, thank you and thank Conor, for making my father-n-law aware of more fighters than Ronda Rousey, Conor McGregor and Chuck Liddell.

I imagine that this is the scenario all over, and this Saturday’s UFC 196 card should get quite a few of those casual eyeballs on it, even if it did suffer the calamity of losing one of its title fights. No worry though, McGregor and Diaz will remedy that, and likely end up with more PPV buys than the originally scheduled bout would have gotten.

With the whipped up frenzy surrounding this event, I figured it was time to examine all the nooks and crannies of the last eight days since the fight was booked. My “Go To” person on all things McGregor has always been Severe MMA’s Sean Sheehan, so this special Three Amigos mini-sode is our dissection of the last week or so. As always, we hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed recording it. Below is a summary of our talking points:

-Announcement and hullabaloo surrounding RDA injury
-The 16 hour wait to announce the new opponent
-The press conference featuring McGregor & Diaz
-Diaz’ chances of capturing the victory
-Comparison of fight styles
-Most likely reason Conor chose Diaz over the other fighters offering their services
-McGregor’s influence over other fighters
-Conormania in Ireland
-Predictions
