The newly crowned UFC women’s bantamweight champion wonders if Ronda Rousey will ever be the same fighter again.

Miesha Tate’s spectacular last-minute title win at UFC 196 last Saturday paved the way for a third encounter with arch nemesis and former champion Ronda Rousey.

Rousey lost her belt to Holly Holm at UFC 193 in November in such devastating fashion that she has even contemplated suicide. Many have wondered since if and when the UFC superstar will come back. After Tate’s title win, the UFC suggested that Rousey will return to challenge her for the belt. However, the new champion isn’t sure if we will ever see the old Ronda Rousey again.

“What about Ronda’s mentality?” Tate said on Jay Mohr Sports on Monday. “I think Ronda is beating herself up over this. I mean, she previously said that she’s so emotional to the point where she’s considering crazy things. It’s like, this is a broken woman. I don’t know if she’ll ever come back the same. But I have proven that I can come back from adversity and I do come back and I will come back. And there’s no one in this sport that can break me.

“I have the strongest mindset of anybody in there. I don’t know where Ronda is with her mindset, but I have to wonder. Is she ever going to come back the same?”

Tate lost two fights to Rousey in 2012 and 2013, both of which were for world titles and ended via armbar submission. The loss against Holm was the first in Rousey’s professional MMA career.
