I’d watch.
With all due respect to lightweight contender Donald Cerrone, who moved up to the welterweight division earlier this year with great success, I’m not sure “Cowboy” is the kind of opponent “Rush” is looking for, assuming the former 170-pound kingpin is even entertaining the idea of an Octagon return.
But he was in attendance at UFC 196 last weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada, so let’s speculate anyway.
Then again, coach Firas Zahabi told his Twitter followers he was working on a potential showdown between St-Pierre and Nate Diaz, who is the toast of the mixed martial arts (MMA) town after his second-round submission win over Conor McGregor.
See it again here.
Diaz, like Cerrone, is a natural lightweight, so even though St-Pierre could return and fight a broom stick — and still sell a bunch of pay-per-view (PPV) buys — I would much rather see him battle a true welterweight.
