Well it happened. Jon Anik said he’d get a 209 tattoo if Nate Diaz beat Conor McGregor at UFC 196. Now that Nate got his hand raised, all that was left was for him to fill his end of the bargain.
I’m not sure if it’s a case of pre-fight bravado gone wrong, or just a nifty bit of self marketing for an MMA themed Tattoo he was already interested in getting. But, either way, UFC commentator Jon Anik is now officially wearing the “209” brand. Anik picked Conor McGregor to win on his Anik and Florian podcast, telling listeners that if Conor didn’t beat Nate, he’d get a 209 area code tattoo on his forearm.
For his part, Nate Diaz seemed to take it as a heavy bet against his likelihood of winning, and one he wasn’t too happy about. Nate even threatened (jokingly) to “whoop his little ass” if Anik didn’t’ hold up his end and get the ink.
Ass whooping avoided:
Of course, if UFC commentary members are going to start making tattoo bets based on fights, it’s time to up the ante. Anyone out there think that Brian Stann might look good with a Werdum-face tat?
