Those with early access to the full EA Sports UFC 2 game can play as welterweight Conor McGregor in a last-minute update. In this CPU vs. CPU match vs. CM Punk, McGregor finds himself in a struggle for the ages.
Technically, you can play the full version of EA UFC 2 right now, provided you have EA Access through Xbox One. Otherwise, the newest UFC video game will hit shelves on Tuesday, March 15th, but why wait until then to check out how everything looks?
The folks at Sports Gaming Universe have uploaded full video (which you can watch at the top of the page) of a CPU vs. CPU three-round bout between Conor McGregor and CM Punk (yes, McGregor is a welterweight per the newest update). “Ole” chants from McGregor fans ring around Chicago’s United Center, indicating that very few of CM Punk’s fans turned up to watch the hometown guy.
Having watched the entire video out of pure curiosity, this really turned out to be a back-and-forth thriller between the current featherweight champion and the former WWE star who has yet to actually have an MMA fight. McGregor, who is 0-1 at welterweight as of last week’s loss to Nate Diaz, was unable to even drop the granite-chinned man whose birth name is Phil Brooks.
In the 2nd round, CM Punk actually took McGregor down with a single-leg, but didn’t do any damage. McGregor rocked Punk badly with a high kick that staggered CM back, but Conor didn’t go in for the kill. It’s at this point in the article that I’ve realized I’m actually recapping a fictional fight in a video game, so I should probably stop.
Anyway, CPU CM Punk put in a strong effort against “The Notorious” one, but ended up taking the unanimous decision loss.
