Mark Hunt earned his seventh victory under the UFC banner this past Saturday night (March 19, 2016) at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Australia, pulling off an incredible walk-off knockout over Frank Mir. With the “Super Samoan” proving he is still a legitimate contender, MMAmania.com ponders what could be next for Hunt.
Mark Hunt is a straight up gangster.
The “Super Samoan” earned his sixth career knockout victory inside the Octagon last night (Sat., March 19, 2016) as he ran through Frank Mir in the main event of UFC Fight Night 85 in Brisbane, Australia.
In true Hunt fashion, the heavy-handed Heavyweight stalked Mir in the opening minutes, prior to perfectly timing a savage straight right hand that cracked Mir’s head back and sent him tumbling to the canvas.
Most other UFC fighters would have pounced at that moment, landing two or three more shots to brutally finish the fight, but Hunt knew the job was already done.
As he has done so many times before, Hunt simply watched his victim lay motionless on the mat as he nonchalantly shrugged his shoulders, and walked off in victory.

Hunt’s walk-off knockout over the former Heavyweight Champion will only further the incredible legacy he has materialized over his legendary combat sports career.
Just a day removed from his 42nd birthday, Hunt is still a major threat in the Heavyweight division, which would have seemed absurd just a few years ago.
Remember, it was only six years ago Hunt turned down UFC’s buyout offer following ZUFFA’s acquisition of PRIDE.
Fast forward 12 outstanding fights later, and you can bet both UFC brass, the fans, and Hunt himself are delighted he never left the sport on that fateful day.
As for what’s next for the “Super Samoan,” a two fight winning streak has positioned him back in the title race in the wild and whacky Heavyweight division.
Considering how the division is nearly always in a state of flux, with very few prospects climbing up the ladder, it is feasible to suggest Hunt could fight for UFC gold before he calls it a career.
It’s nearly impossible to guess who will fight for UFC gold with Ben Rothwell, Alistair Overeem, Cain Velasquez, and more hunting for the title, but Hunt could potentially be in line for a No. 1 contender shot with one more victory.
With most of the top Heavyweights currently scheduled for fights, I’d like to see Hunt take on the winner of Alistair Overeem vs. Andrei Arlovski.
Alternatively, UFC brass could position Hunt directly into a No. 1 contender fight against the former Heavyweight king Cain Velasquez, once he heals from his most recent surgery.
Regardless, whoever the “Super Samoan” fights next, you can bet the mixed martial arts (MMA) world will be tuning in to witness history once again.
