An early glance at the UFC 199 pay-per-view event on June 4th in Inglewood, California, where Luke Rockhold rematches Chris Weidman for what is now Rockhold’s middleweight title.
UFC 199 is just over 2 months away, and there are a pair of championship rematches topping this PPV in Southern California. Luke Rockhold ended Chris Weidman’s undefeated record and reign as middleweight champion with a TKO win at UFC 194, but an immediate rematch has been booked atop the June 4th card at The Forum in Inglewood. Rockhold didn’t want to fight at 199, knowing that UFC 200 would be a huge show, but guess what happened anyway?
In the co-main event, Dominick Cruz defends his bantamweight title against bitter rival Urijah Faber. This rubber match has seen Faber beat Cruz at 145 in the WEC in 2007, Cruz beat Faber at 135 in the UFC 2011, and now we’ll see these two men battle it out (presumably) one last time.
The card is slowly but surely picking up some new bouts, including lightweight contenders Dustin Poirier and Bobby Green, as well as Evan Dunham against Leonardo Santos, which was moved from UFC 198 to 199 due to a minor injury for Dunham.
Here’s a look at the card so far. And no, the Dong Hyun Kim who is fighting Marco Polo Reyes is not “Stun Gun.” This one is now a lightweight, having lost his UFC debut at welterweight last November.
