A large portion of the mixed martial arts (MMA) community was convinced that reigning featherweight champion Conor McGregor was going to call out former welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre for a UFC 200 “super fight.”
That’s because St-Pierre was cageside for the UFC 196 pay-per-view (PPV) main event earlier this month in Las Vegas, Nevada, but any chance of booking Mac-GSP went up in smoke when Nate Diaz flipped the script and submitted “Notorious” in their 170-pound showdown.
As Diaz told Chael Sonnen during a recent podcast (via Low Kick), he got everyone pissed off (and gives zero fucks).
“Yeah I heard (they were planning on having Conor call out GSP) but I put a big old hole in that shit. What did they think, that I’m some game they can play? I can’t be fucked with, I been in the game too long. They wanted to have this big old GSP vs. McGregor bullshit, with Georges sat in the front row at UFC 196, I don’t even wanna hear about that shit. Get the fuck outta here with that. What the fuck? I pissed off Conor McGregor, I pissed off GSP, but most of all I pissed off the UFC. Well guess what? LOL motherfuckers. Georges is full of shit, he’s a bully, he was going to fight this little Irish featherweight guy? He would have held him down, that’s a freak show fight man.”

St-Pierre is not unfamiliar with the Diaz clan, having fought brother Nick at UFC 158.
With the former champ in no “Rush” to return, the promotion instead implemented Plan B and booked Diaz vs. McGregor 2 — at welterweight — for Sat., July 9, 2016 inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. An official announcement is expected this week.
