UFC on FOX 19: Tony Ferguson injury forces him out of Khabib Nurmagomedov fight

Another Khabib Nurmagomedov fight has been postponed (yet again).

This time, though, it’s through no fault of “The Eagle’s,” as his opponent Tony Ferguson was forced to withdraw from their upcoming headlining fight at UFC on Fox 19, which was set to do down on April 16, 2016 in Tampa, Florida.

FOX Sports was the first to report the unfortunate news, and “El Cucuy” hit Twitter to explain his withdrawal:

I am out of my Fight Due to Blood/Fluid in my Lung. Usually I can Power Through These things.… https://t.co/zBcaxr4lBi

As a result, the Light Heavyweight showdown between Rashad Evans and Glover Teixeira will now headline the FOX-televised event.

In fact, that bout came to be as a result of another injury, as Mauricio Rua was forced to bow out of his fight against “Suga” with an injury of his own.

The delay means Nurmagomedov will have to wait a bit longer to make his Octagon return after sitting on the sidelines for nearly two years with multiple injuries. The event will now feature a co-main event between Dan Henderson and Lyoto Machida.
