UFC women’s strawweight sensation, Paige VanZant made it through to the next round on Dancing With the Stars after a lively, UFC-themed dance tied her for 3rd place this past Monday.
If you follow the UFC women’s division closely, or if you follow Dancing With The Stars, you’re aware that women’s strawweight sensation, Paige VanZant is a current contestant on the popular show. In her third week of the season, and back with her original dance partner, Mark Ballas (Ballas suffered a back injury after the first week and had to sit last week out), VanZant wowed the judges and audience with a fighting-themed dance number that took place in a prop DWTS Octagon.
The music, “300 Violin Orchestra” by Jorge Quintero, might be recognizable by fans as the very same that Vitor Belfort and Erick Silva have used in their walkouts, and set the tone for Paige’s “pasodoble.” The lively performance was filled with an array of kicks, throws and featured a shoulder bump at the beginning and a Superman punch that looked to have deadly intentions.
VanZant scored 23 of 30 available points and managed to tie for third place, beating out Mischa Barton to stay on the show. There were several notable UFC personalities in the crowd cheering for Paige; Chuck Liddell, teammate Urijah Faber and middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold.
One curious takeaway here is that in this video clip, Dana White is featured giving praise to VanZant (1:23 mark), going so far as to call her one of the “Top 10 best fighters in the world.” Paige will dance again on next Monday’s episode.
