Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans will collide with ex-division No. 1 contender Glover Teixeira at this Saturday night’s (April 16, 2016) UFC on FOX 19 mixed martial arts (MMA) event inside Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
A fight that was cobbled together on short notice after this.
Evans (19-4-1) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Ryan Bader back in October, his first appearance after nearly two years on the injured reserves. Teixeira (24-4), meanwhile, is the winner of two straight, bagging and tagging Ovince Saint Preux and Patrick Cummins during his 2015 fight campaign.
While the aging 205-pounders appear to be closely matched in skill sets, reigning division champion Daniel Cormier and former title contender Kenny Florian both favor Evans. “DC” believes “Suga” will be too fast for the Brazilian, while “KenFlo” likes Evans’ “vibe.”
We’ll find out soon enough.
