UFC on Fox 19 prelims results and video: Chiesa submits Dariush

Check out the results and video of the UFC on Fox 19 FS1 prelim bouts.

The four Fox Sports 1 prelims for UFC on Fox 19 delivered some great action, with three finished out of four fights. Here’s how it all went down.

Michael Chiesa defeated Beneil Dariush by submission (rear naked choke), 1:20 round 2

In the featured prelim of UFC on Fox 19, Chiesa handed Dariush the first submission loss of his career with pure strength. After getting his legs beaten up with kicks in the first round, Chiesa came back in the second to get a takedown and secure the back. He tried to sink a choke but couldn’t get his arm below the chin. Despite that, he adjusted and just decided to squeeze on Dariush’s head until he couldn’t take the pain and tapped. It was announced as a rear naked choke, but it was really just a squeeze.

Raquel Pennington defeated Bethe Correia by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

This was a brawl. Pennington tried to be technical early, but it wasn’t hard to suck her into a back-and-forth battle that could very well win fight of the night. All three rounds were close, with Pennington working a Thai clinch game while Correia was throwing bombs whenever she got the chance. Honestly this could have gone either way, but it was Pennington that squeaked out the important win.

Santiago Ponzinibbio defeated Court McGee by TKO (strikes), 4:15 of round 1

McGee came forward right away to take away the vaunted striking game of the Argentinian, and was having some success early. But once Ponzinibbio found his range, he slowly started to beat McGee up. And once he dropped him with a counter, it was the beginning of the end. Ponzinibbio pounded him out against the cage with some powerful strikes for the biggest win of his career to date.

Michael Graves defeated Randy Brown by submission (rear naked choke), 2:31 of round 2

Graves, an undefeated ATT fighter, was meeting a hyped prospect from Dana White’s reality show. In the first round they spent a lot of time against the cage engaging in the clinch. Honestly, it wasn’t much of a round. In the second though, Graves got Brown to the ground, took the back, and methodically sunk in the choke to get the nice finish.
