Tweet: Cyborg calls out Rousey for 140 pound ‘superfight for the fans’

Now that Ronda Rousey is without a UFC belt, Cristiane ‘Cyborg’ Justino has called the former champion out for a catchweight superfight at 140 pounds.

Cris Cyborg isn’t giving up on a Ronda Rousey superfight. In fact, now that “Rowdy” no longer possesses the UFC women’s bantamweight title, the Brazilian believes the timing would be perfect.

Rousey, who ruled as the 135-pound champion for two years and finished all but one of her fights in the first round, was violently dethroned by Holly Holm at UFC 193. The Olympic bronze medalist had brushed off Cyborg’s call outs in the past due to the 10 lbs. weight difference; Rousey ruled the BW division while Justino dominated the Invicta FC featherweight contenders.

With Rousey no longer champion, however, Cyborg called the Judoka out on Twitter.

Remember when @RondaRousey said you have to come to the champ? How about we compromise. 140 super fight for the fans https://t.co/5VW8mnYDO0

The former Strikeforce featherweight champion also spoke about the potential matchup to Bloody Elbow’s Stephie Haynes, Iain Kidd and Mookie Alexander on The Three Amigos Podcast.

“I think when Ronda comes back to fight, all of the fans want to watch me fight her, Cyborg said. “She has talked about me in the past, she has pushed the idea of this fight, but after that said I had to make 135lbs to fight her, because she knew it was impossible for me. Now I’m in a 140lbs catchweight division, so if she wants to challenge herself and not just talk, we can make the fight happen.”

Cyborg will make her UFC debut in a 140 pound catchweight fight with Leslie Smith at UFC 198 on May 14th. If the California-based fighter is victorious, a showdown with Ronda Rousey at the Madison Square Garden Arena for UFC 205 could be one of the promotion’s biggest fights of the year.
