All due respect to Master Blaster, but Vince McMahon runs Bartertown.
The legendary professional wrestling promoter recently granted former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar permission to return to the Octagon at UFC 200 in July, which will no doubt pad the pay-per-view (PPV) pockets of Lorenzo Fertitta and Dana White, among others.
But just like that day Merlin showed up to claim the son of Uther and Igraine, Vinny Mac will eventually walk through the front door of ZUFFA headquarters — with a certain amount of swagger, I might add — looking to collect what he believes is rightfully his.
Namely, former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, according to NY Post:
It looks as though “losing” Lesnar to the UFC was just one small step in the WWE’s secret plan to lure UFC superstar Ronda Rousey into the wrestling ring.
Forbes first reported the details of the idea, which included the WWE allowing Lesner to return to the Octagon to curry favor with UFC so the fight promotion would lend them Rousey in the future.
There’s a lot of that going around these days.
Rousey has not competed in mixed martial arts (MMA) since getting creamed by Holy Holm at UFC 193 last November, but is tentatively scheduled to return to the Octagon in late 2016 or early 2017. That would leave her roughly three months to prepare for another appearance at WrestleMania.
This time, however, she may not come back.
