CM Punk is very confident about his chances in the UFC, believe that it’s not out of the realm of possibility that he could get a title shot after three or four wins.

After many delays, to the point that people figured it would never happen, it appears that CM Punk will finally make his UFC debut against Mickey Gall at UFC 203 in September. The former pro wrestler signed with the UFC in December 2014, and has been training with Roufusport for his debut ever since.

cm Punk (real name Phil Brooks) is doing the media rounds to build up the fight, and was a guest on Colin Cowherd’s radio show today. While there, he addressed the fact that many believed he’d never fight – and talked about what he thinks might be possible for him in the octagon (via MMA Fighting):

“I know people think this is a publicity stunt, I’m never going to set foot in the Octagon,” he acknowledged. “I look forward to proving them wrong, but to me, it’s not super far-fetched to be like, ‘You know what? What if I put three or four wins together? Who’s to say I don’t get a title shot?’

“I’m a very positive thinking person. Of course I’m not going to saddle myself with this negativity that’s, ‘Oh, that’s it for me’. Because to me in life, it’s so cliche and it sounds so corny, so Karate Kid-like, but it’s not about getting knocked down. It’s about how many times you get up. That’s why I train the way I do. I get knocked down in training every day, so on Sept. 10th I won’t get knocked down.”

He also acknowledged that he might only be around for a short time. At 37, that remains a possibility. He had a decent spin on that as well though:

“What’s wrong with doing it just two or three fights? That’s a lot of money.”
