Hunt to Lesnar: ‘If you don’t like to be hit, you’re in the wrong sport’

Ahead of their UFC 200 showdown, Mark Hunt criticizes Brock Lesnar anew, this time for supposedly having a highly untoward reaction once hit by a hard strike.

Brock Lesnar has seemingly developed a reputation as a fighter whose weakness turns up once he gets hit. Fellow former heavyweight champion Frank Mir had previously pointed it out, days after Lesnar’s fight against Mark Hunt at UFC 200 was announced.

“Not that anybody likes to be hit, but Brock for whatever reason has shown much more of a dramatic response to the negativity of those shots. To the point where he’s not asleep, it isn’t like he got knocked out, he’s not getting dropped, but he just turns his face away from adversity,” Mir said.

Lesnar is still deemed to be one of the most notable fighters to step inside the Octagon, despite his short UFC stint. But for Hunt, his opponent’s aversion to being in the receiving end of strikes is rightfully a cause for concern.

“I don’t know, to be honest. I don’t know what the deal is with that. I mean, if you don’t like to be hit, you’re in the wrong sport,” Hunt said during his recent interview on the MMA Hour (transcription by MMA Fighting).

Hunt is considered as one of the hardest hitters in the game, and his last two first round knockout finishes are a living proof to it. While he gives credit to Lesnar as a fighter, the “Super Samoan” hopes the former champion would revert back to his wrestler instincts and bull rush himself into a knockout punch.

“I’m hoping he comes in like a crazy man and then I put him to sleep,” Hunt said. “That’s basically what I hope is going to happen. But I don’t think he’s that stupid. I think he’s going to be a bit smarter and test the waters first, but we’ll see what happens on the night.”
