The Korean Superboy wants to fight Cub Swanson, so he asked for a bout in the most polite way possible.
In some instances, UFC fighters resort to name-calling and theatrics to get a fight with a higher-ranked opponent. In Doo Ho Choi’s case, he’s just trying to ask as politely as possible. The Korean Superboy took to South Korean sports network SPOTV (via Facebook) to request a fight with Cub Swanson.
Here’s the transcription of Choi’s super-nice callout (via MMA Junkie):
“I have been watching you since even before I made my UFC debut. Since my UFC debut, I have won all three fights in style. I think it will be a good fight between the two of us. We both always try to knock out our opponents. I like those types of fighters. Even though my ranking isn’t high now, like you mentioned before, it’s not important whether you fight rookies or top-ranked fighters.
“If you could tell the UFC that you also want to fight me, that would be great. I would appreciate it. I want to fight you. I will look forward to seeing you in the octagon.”
I especially like the part where he asks Swanson to talk to the UFC about it.
Choi (15-1, 3-0 UFC) has three straight knockouts to start his UFC career, and is currently ranked at number 12 in the featherweight division. Swanson (23-7, 8-3 UFC) is coming off a big win over Tatsuya Kawajiri at the UFC event in Salt Lake City last weekend. He’s currently ranked in the five spot at 145.
