Demian Maia vs Carlos Condit ‘Strikezone’ video preview for UFC on FOX 21 main event

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) somehow lured longtime welterweight contender Carlos Condit back to the Octagon — despite his resistance — for a compelling showdown against top-ranked 170-pound grappler Demian Maia.

When and where?

None other than this weekend’s (Sat., Aug. 27, 2016) UFC on FOX 21: “Maia vs. Condit” mixed martial arts (MMA) event, taking place inside Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Following a controversial decision loss to Robbie Lawler to kick off the new year, Condit (30-9) opted to ride the pine until he could secure a “Ruthless” rematch. When that failed to materialize, “The Natural Born Killer” started considering alternate fights.

That put him directly across from Maia (23-6), now the winner of five straight, including last May’s submission victory over the rough-and-tumble Matt Brown. No doubt beating Condit would go a long way in securing a welterweight title shot.

Check out what UFC on FOX analysts Daniel Cormier and Kenny Florian had to say in their “Strikezone” video preview above.
