As noted, Nate Diaz is facing possible repercussions as a result of his vape pen usage at the UFC 202 post-fight press conference. This is a subject that Diaz’s boxing coach Richard Perez says shouldn’t result in his fighter having any issues because he uses it for a legitimate reason.
Perez told Submission Radio that he doesn’t feel like Diaz should be suspended.
“I mean, doctors prescribe you with drugs left and right that are not even good for you. And I mean, I don’t do what he does, but I understand what he’s doing. You know, cause it’s for pain. There’s a place here in Modesto that have a big company that deal with people that have sicknesses that are using the oil that Nate was using to help them – you know, like epilepsy.”
Perez continued, “There’s people that have injuries in their body, you know, they use it and it works. And they have six counsellors there that are pastors, that are all educated, that will talk to you about this and explain to you that this is not just to get high. So I feel like he was being his own doctor, let’s put it that way.”
