Several match-ups have already been put in place, but were immediately scrapped. Originally, the card was slated to feature a welterweight showdown between Donald Cerrone and former champion Robbie Lawler, but the said plans were shelved when the latter withdrew from the event. Cerrone will instead face TUF 17 winner Kelvin Gastelum.
Serra-Longo representative Al Iaquinta was also scheduled to face former title contender Thiago Alves, but the said match-up was also cancelled due to contract issues. Alves is now reportedly facing veteran Jim Miller, instead. Former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar will be facing Jeremy Stephens, as confirmed by UFC Tonight.
Most notably, reports about a possible lightweight fight between champion Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor were abuzz, but UFC president Dana White himself shut down the idea, and now it’s reported that Alvarez could fight Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 206.
The confirmed fights for the night, so far, are the welterweight title showdown between Tyron Woodley and Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, Edgar vs. Stephens, Cerrone vs. Gastelum, Tim Boetsch vs. Rafael Natal, Katlyn Chookagian vs. Liz Carmouche, and Rashad Evans’ debut at 185-pounds as he takes on Tim Kennedy.
UFC 205 is scheduled to take place on November 12th at the Madison Square Garden in Manhattan.
