Retired UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub made a bold statement about how Tim Tebow would’ve fared in the UFC, had Tebow pursued a career in MMA when he was younger.

Bloody Elbow records indicate that the last time Tim Tebow was the centerpiece of an article on this site was June 2014, when he tweeted out his support for his friend Brendan Schaubwho would ultimately lose to Andrei Arlovski at UFC 174. Prior to that, we had two articles in 2012 about how his ratings as the then-starting QB for the NFL’s Denver Broncos could affect UFC 142’s PPV numbers, as well as a post about him training with Schaub and Ralek Gracie.

It’s 2016, so as the “every other year” pattern dictates, it’s Tebow Time on Bloody Elbow! Brendan Schaub was recently on TMZ Sports, and he had glowing things to say about the 29-year-old and just how good he could’ve been had he pursued a career in the UFC.

“If Tim decided when he was younger to pursue the UFC, he’d be the heavyweight champion of the world,” Schaub said. “His skillset and his mindset, I don’t know anyone — this is including the UFC — who has a tougher mindset than Tim Tebow.”

Pretty bold statement there! He didn’t even mention six months sprawl.

As mentioned earlier, Tebow and Schaub have trained together in the past, and Schaub delved into when asked if he’d ever fought or trained with him.

“Tim and I, we’ve grappled and stuff like that,” Schaub said. “It’s foreign to him. You know grappling’s a language you have to learn after many years. It’s like, if I went in the batting cage right now, he’d embarrass me. Or if I had to throw a football, he’d probably embarrass me. So jiu-jitsu is just a little different.”

Tebow is currently giving baseball a shot, as the New York Mets recently signed him to a minor league contract.

Poll
If he were to start training right now, how many months would it take for Tim Tebow to become UFC heavyweight champion?
