UFC featherweight and The Ultimate Fighter veteran Phillipe Nover has come up with a new way to deal with the pressure from the crowd as he prepares to take on Renan Barao on Brazilian grounds next Saturday.

As Nover told Sportv he downloaded 15 minutes of booing, so he can get used to the atmosphere.

“I guess it’s a mental weapon, because I know I’m fighting in Brazil against a hometown hero, Barao. I prepared myself by downloading 15 minutes straight of old boos, because I know I have to mentally prepare for the situation. I listen to it while I’m working out.”

As Barao pointed out, however, there’s a big difference between listening to a recording, from the real thing.

“15 minutes of booing is different from 10 thousand people booing you. And there’s no ‘uh, vai morrer’, which is a totally different thing.”

Phillipe Nover is expected to fight Renan Barao in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 95, in Brasilia, Brazil, on September 24. The card will be headlined by a catchweight 140 match between Cris Cyborg and Lina Lansberg.
