After a busy weekend in Brazil, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to the hurt business this Saturday night (Oct. 1, 2016) for UFC Fight Night 96: “Lineker vs. Dodson,” which takes place inside Moda Center in Portland, Oregon, live on FOX Sports 1.
The promotion’s latest mixed martial arts (MMA) card will feature a compelling bantamweight showdown pitting the resurgent John Lineker against fellow flyweight import John Dodson. Elsewhere on the card, Will Brooks and Alex Oliveira hook ’em up for a spot in the 155-pound title chase.

Round 1: Henrique moving forward, Christensen looking to counter. Low kicks from the Brazilian. He steps into the clinch and Henrique looks for the plum. Knees to the body from “Frankenstein.” One minute in. Christensen looks for short uppercuts. More knees by Henrique. Good uppercut lands for him. They separate and Henrique lands a combo. Christensen body kick met by a right hand. Counter right by Christensen. Teep exchange. Uppercut slips through Henrique’s guard, then a low kick lands.2-1 from Henrique and Christensen is hurt. He falls to the mat after another right hand and threatens his guard until the ref stands him up. Two minutes to go.

Round 2: Jab exchange to start, then a heavy combo by Christensen. Nice right uppercuts inside. Henrique lands an overhand right and pursues. Body shots. Knees to the body and elbows in the clinch. Henrique lands a good elbow before they separate. One minute in. Henrique goes back into the clinch. Henrique tries another spinning elbow. They separate. 1-2 by Christensen, then crushes Henrique with a knee. The Brazilian falls and Christensen gets to work bashing away in guard. Round 1: Fili on the advance early. Dias shoots from way out, nothing there. Counter left lands for Fili. Dias with a counter flurry, eats a body kick. Good rush from Dias. One minute in. Good left by Fili dings Dias. Another counter left lands. Dias shoots in, Fili limp-legs out. Counter left hook melts Dias. Fili hammers away with punches, but Dias manages to tie up and shoot for a takedown. Fili grabs the fence to stuff it. Two minutes in. Fili still fighting off the takedown, but Dias wrangles him down into side control. Fili rolls him over and stands with two minutes to go.
Fili fires a body kick. Low kick connects, Dias comes back with a two-piece. One minute to go. Counter left once again from Fili. Dias tries to tie up, denied. Another takedown stuffed and Fili lands a knee to the body. 10-9 Fili.
Round 2: Fili lands a body kick early. Right hand by Dias. Good timing on a level change from Dias and he hauls Fili to the fence. One minute in. He completes it into side control. Fili tries that same sweep again, manages to regain half guard. Two minutes in. Fili gets an underhook and rolls him over, then stands. High kick attempt from Fili. Dias shoots, stuffed. He shoots again, Fili counters with a hip toss into side control. Two minutes to go.
Dias grabs the fence to turn into an armbar. Fili stands and extracts his arm. He stands and kicks at Dias’ legs. One minute to go. Dias nearly hits a foot sweep and comes up throwing. 2-3 from Dias, straight left by Fili and a body kick. Check hook from Fili. Fili hits a beautiful throw into side control at the bell. 10-9 Fili.
Round 3: The come out throwing. Dias shoots, stuffed. Shoots again, Fili limp-legs out of it. counter right from Dias, jab from Fili. One minute in. Fili shoots, denied. Counter right by Dias. Dias ducks a right hand and hits an inside trip into guard. Two minutes in. Solid right hands from Dias. Fili tries to kick him off, cannot do so. Hammerfists from Dias. Harris slaps on a vicious power guillotine when he tries to stand and wrangles Adurakhimov to the mat. Abdurakhimov works his way free and avoids a knee on the way up. Two minutes in. Abdurakhimov controlling the temp of the standup, avoiding many of Harris’ flurries. Two minutes to go.

Round 1: Dos Santos fires a head kick and Nakamura shoots in The Brazilian fires a few elbows, but Nakamura drags him to the mat. Dos Santos using the fence to try to stand. One minute in. He makes it up, Nakamura still attached. Nakamura slings him to the mat and takes the back. One hook in for the Japanese veteran. Two minutes in. Nakamura still fighting for the choke. Dos Santos handfighting well. Nakamura briefly tries a neck crank, then takes mount. Dos Santos regains half guard. Two minutes to go.
Solid ground-and-pound from K-Taro. Dos Santos kicks him off, but nearly gives up his back again. Elbows by Nakamura and Dos Santos tries to scramble up. One minute to go. Dos Santos makes it to his feet and slings bombs. Booming counter left from Nakamura, Dos Santos keeps throwing until the bell. 10-9 Nakamura.
Round 2: Nakamura opens with a straight left. Body kick blocked. Hard combination from Dos Santos. One minute in. Dos Santos with rights to the body. Now a straight right upstairs. Counter left from Nakamura. Dos Santos still getting the better of these exchanges. He fires a knee to the body and Nakamura takes him down. Two minutes in. Nakamura gets a hook in and goes back to working for the choke. Two minutes to go.
Good balance by Nakamura, Dos Santos gets half guard. He turns into Nakamura and gives up the front headlock. Nakamura continuing to ride him. Dos Santos makes it back up and keeps slugging. One minute to go. Dos Santos leg kick. Heavy right hand from Dos Santos. Again. 10-9 Dos Santos.
Round 3: Dos Santos connects with a right hand. He stuffs a takedown and goes back to slinging heat. Wheel kick just misses. One minute in. Head kick from Nakamura, then a straight left. Dos Santos eats a groin strike, elects to continue. Two minutes in. Nakamura hits a nice reactive takedown and Dos Santos grabs for a Kimura on the way down. Nakamura gets his arm out and takes half guard. Full mount for Nakamura, Dos Santos sweeps to his feet and hits a belly-to-back suplex. Two minutes to go.
Dos Santos looking to set up an arm-triangle. Dos Santos rides it and takes the back. Nakamura rolls through and Dos Santos takes the front headlock. Dos Santos loking for a Peruvian Necktie. Round 2: McCrory moving forward. Low kicks, Nate knocks him off-balance with a body jab and lands a knee to the body. Body kick by McCrory, 1-2 from Marquardt. One minute in. Marquardt body kick, then a body jab. McCrory pops him with a jab in return. Two minutes in. McCrory lands a combination inside and ties up on the fence. Marquardt gets double underhooks and trips him down. Two minutes to go.

They clinch and Wilson takes him to the fence. Cutelaba blasts him with a left cross. Straight lefts form Wilson. Spinning back fist and left hand by Cutelaba. One minute to go. Low kick connects. Again. Cutelaba switches stances. Straight left and low kick by Wilson. High kick just misses and Cutelaba tries to do damage inside. 10-9 Cutelaba.
Round 2: Cutelaba opens with a groin shot that sends Wilson to his knees. He is not a happy camper right now. Wilson takes his time to recover, but he does manage to get his bearings and resume. Cutelaba continuing to pressure, gets clipped by a left hand. Low kicks from Cutelaba. Wilson looks for a head kick, lands a counter elft. Spinning back fist attempt from Cutelaba and a wheel kick behind it. Cutelaba pursues and blasts him with right hands. Vicious flurry from Cutelaba and another spinning back fist. Two minutes in. Cutelaba briefly clinches. More right hands. Wilson connects with a counter, Cutelaba walks through it. Two minutes to go.
Straight left by Wilson, who eats another low kick. Short uppercut by Cutelaba, still looking to spin. Wilson lands a counter left when Cutelaba switches stances. Cutelaba slinging right hands at him. One minute to go. Wilson lands a combination, low-high. Cutelaba shoots, stuffed. Cutelaba looks a bit tired. Wilson lands a lead left. 10-9 Cutelaba.
Round 3: Quick exchange in the center. Superman punch by Wilson. Wilson on the advance, eats a big left hook. One minute in. Hard head kick by Wilson, Cutelaba leans into it. Round 1: Blaydes lands a right hands, shoots, gets stuffed. They exchange in the center until Blaydes hits a double-leg. A scramble ensues and East makes it back to his feet. They clinch and separate. Right from East, Blaydes bulldozes him back to the mat. Side control for Blaydes, now right hands from half guard. Blaydes landing short shots, pressing East against the cage. Two minutes in. East turns into him and makes his way to his feet, instandly rocking Blaydes with a right hand. Blaydes hits a takedown into mount, then takes the back. East slips out the backdoor and hits an outside trip of his own. Blaydes pops up and they clinch. Two minutes to go.
Blaydes hits another trip and sets up in East’s guard. Half guard now. One minute to go, shots from Blaydes. The ref stands them up. Hard punches by East in the waning seconds. East dives in and hits a low takedown before the bell. 10-9 Blaydes.
Round 2: Lead right from Blaydes to start the round. 1-2 lands. Counter right by East and they exchange. Blaydes blasts through for an easy double-leg. Open guard for East. Elbows by Blaydes. One minute in. Short ground-and-pound continues. Blaydes stands over him and East shoots in. Blades locks up an arm with his legs and slams home elbows to the side of the head until the referee steps in.
Final result: Blaydes def. East by TKO (elbows)

Round 1: Vieira on the advance, snuffs out a level change. She catches a kick and ties up on the fence. Knee to the body from the American. One minute in. Vieira just misses with a left hook on the break. Faszholz does not miss with a right hand soon after. Vieira low kick. Faszholz Superman punch falls short. Counter right lands for the Brazilian. Two minutes in. Faszholz lands a low kick and shoves Vieira to the mat. Vieira rolls through and pops out of the front headlock, clinched against the fence. Elbow by Faszholz, who gets thrown to the mat and locks up her guard. Two minutes to go..
Vieira staying heavy, not doing much damage. Faszolz has tried a few times to bring her legs up and get something going. One minute to go .Faszholz turns, looking for an armbar, can’t get anything. Vieira with some left hands as she works to half guard. 10-9 Vieira.
Round 2: Low kick for Faszholz, met by counter punches. 1-2 from the American. Knee to the body inside. Vieira catches a body kick and takes her down into guard once more. One minute in. It’s back to the fence. Vieira stands over her, messing with Faszholz’s feet, then gets back in guard. Two minutes in. Again, she stands over Faszholz and looks to mass. Faszholz keeps her in guard. There’s very, very little offense coming from Vieira. Two minutes to go.
The ref agrees. Vieira’s a bit slow to rise after he stands them up. Faszholz comes in swinging, counter rights form Vieira. Faszholz throws yet another telegraphed body kick and gets taken down into guard. Still nothing from Vieira, so the ref stands them up again. One minute to go. Counters from the Brazilian. 10-9 Vieira.
Round 3: Faszholz’s corner implores her to “wake up” between rounds.
Lead right from Faszholz, counters from Vieira. Faszholz on the advance, winging punches. Hard left hook lands. Right hand from Faszholz and they trade. More right hands from the American. One minute in. More combinations by Faszholz. They tie up and she lands knees to the body. Corner tells her to separate, she’s trying to do so. Hard knees to the body and she exits. More combinations by Faszholz and Vieira ties up, looking to change levels. Two minutes in. Faszholz forces her way out. Vieira with a left on the break. Two minutes to go.
Faszholz still stalking, lands some lovely knees. She overextends with one to the head and Vieira hurls her to the mat. Faszholz looking for something off of her back, scrambles to her knees. Vieira looking for the choke as she tries to stand. One minute to go. Vieira just holding onto her, doing nothing with top position.
