Dillashaw exploded on social media about Dominick Cruz, claiming that ‘The Dominator’ is ducking him.
T.J. Dillashaw is not giving up on his championship rematch with Dominick Cruz. The two bantamweights fought to a decision at UFC Fight Night 81, which saw Cruz reclaim the belt he was forced to give up due to a series of injuries in 2014.
The bout was hotly contested and, a good number of fans and pundits, including Bloody Elbow’s own Connor Ruebusch, scored the fight for Dillashaw.
The Californian would go on to reaffirm his position as one of the best 135-pound fighters in the world, beating top contender Raphael Assuncao at UFC 200. With the win, Dillashaw thought he did enough to earn his rematch, but former teammate Cody Garbrandt has stormed into the rankings and made his own case for a title shot.
Earlier this month, Dillashaw accused Cruz of ducking him and the former champion said the same thing in an expletive-laden post on social media.
“Still no response to my bet, proves my point that @dominickcruz is a scared little bitch and trying to avoid this fight however he can. Can’t just ignore this and expect it to go away, so run little bitch run little bitch, run. Say it with ya chest,” the Instagram post read.
Cruz, 31, defended his UFC title against Urijah Faber earlier this year at UFC 199 and, according to multiple sources, will defend it a fourth time against Garbrandt at UFC 207 in Las Vegas.
Dillashaw, who now trains out of Elevation Fight Team in Colorado, is likely to be even more furious with Cruz and could be forced to take another fight while Cruz vs. Garbrandt plays out.
