Bisping fires back at Henderson: You were a ‘punchbag’ for 23 minutes

Michael Bisping is not happy with Dan Henderson’s recent outburst against the judges’ decision at UFC 204.

Michael Bisping beat Dan Henderson at UFC 204, just. Although Bisping was awarded a unanimous decision, ‘The Count’ was almost knocked out in the first and second rounds and left the Manchester Arena with a face like a dog’s chew toy.

Me and my bro!!!! Jokes on you haters!

Despite Hendo’s two bursts of success, however, Bisping largely controlled the fight and overwhelmed Henderson with a high-volume of strikes.

Henderson, 46, praised Bisping in the post-fight interview but admitted he was ‘pissed’ after rewatching the bout at home.

“I finally got around to watching the video of it last night, and I’ll admit, I’m pretty pissed about it,” the former Strikeforce and Pride champion said in a blog post on Champions.co

Bisping, who defended his UFC middleweight title for the first time in his backyard of Manchester, England, replied with his own blog post and ridiculed Henderson on Twitter.

@danhendo u dont win a fight by cowering and being a punchbag for 23 minutes. You should be pissed at yourself for backing up the whole time

“Anybody that thinks Dan won that fight…quite frankly, you guys are crazy,” Bisping said. “Of course, Dan is going to say that because it was in England, the judges were partial to me. They were the same judges that score many, many UFC events. It’s not like they rounded up three blokes from Manchester just for this fight. There’s a thing called an airplane, and those judges were flown out to score that bout.

Dan can try to come up with whatever excuses he wants to discredit my win, the fact of the matter is, he should be gracious in defeat. I won, fair and square. He put on a great performance, I won’t deny it. Well done to you, Dan, but guess what? It just wasn’t enough. They got it right on the #scorecard.”

Henderson, who is one of the most accomplished MMA fighters of all time, announced his retirement after the loss but said a trilogy fight could lure him back into the Octagon.

Bisping, on the other hand, feels like he’s just getting started as champion. The 37-year-old said he’d like to fight former champ, Chris Weidman if he gets past Yoel Romero at UFC 205 on November 12.

Bisping is now on a five-fight win streak — the best streak of his UFC career — and has beaten the likes of Anderson Silva, Luke Rockhold and, now, Dan Henderson.
