miguel-torresFormer World Extreme Bantamweight champion Miguel Torres (38-3) has apparently been contacted to coach the upcoming season of “The Ultimate Fighter” according to FightersOnlyMagazine.co.uk.

Sources close to the situation confirmed to Fighters Only on Friday that Torres’ name has been in the mix and that he has been spoken to about the possibility, although nothing was confirmed during the talks.

UFC president Dana White stated recently that he’d know who the coaches were by Friday (yesterday) but he wouldn’t necessarily be releasing that information just yet.

“The California Kid” Urijah Faber has been rumored to be one of the coaches for the event, and a “TUF” show featuring some of the bigger known WEC personalities could be a great introduction to those not familiar with the smaller fighters.

At his past Thursday’s WEC 53 post fight press conference, bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz was asked by the media if he’d consider coaching on the reality show opposite Faber. The first UFC 135 lbs champ said he’d love a shot to coach on the show and it would give him a chance to avenge his only loss. Cruz said he’d delay having surgery for his hand to coach on the show.

What transpires over the coming weeks is anyone’s guess, but it’s certain that until the UFC makes some sort of official announcement that rumors will persist as to who the next to coaches for “The Ultimate Fighter” could be.
