Tony Ferguson would rather have black belt from Eddie Bravo than ‘tarnished’ UFC title

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight contender Tony Ferguson is ranked No. 4 at 155 pounds (see the top 10 here), and will likely secure a crack at the division crown with a win over Rafael dos Anjos at UFC Fight Night 98.

Not that he gives a shit.

“I’m more interested in receiving my black belt from Eddie Bravo’s 10th Planet jiu-jitsu system than the UFC belt right now,” Ferguson told Yahoo! Sports. “The [UFC] belt is tarnished, man. I feel like the belt has been in so many different hands, it’s so polluted. It needs to be recycled by the time I get there.”

It could, conceivably, end up in a featherweight’s hands at UFC 205.

Ferguson (21-3) is now the winner of eight straight with six finishes during that span. “El Cucuy” will throw down with Dos Anjos — the former lightweight champion — on Nov. 5, 2016 in Mexico City, Mexico.

Until then, you can probably catch him rolling with Eddie Bravo.
